Today saw the Swanz suffered a 5-1 loss to the table topping Island Bay United. Miramar led 1-0 after a cracking Chiara Esposito strike from the edge of the box that looped over the keeper - but fell behind 4-1 in the 15 mins before halftime when IBU established their ascendancy. Miramar conceded one more in a much more even 2nd 1/2 to finish the game 5-1. The Swanz still showed they have what it takes to compete at this level and will be looking to maintain a concentrated effort for the full 90 monkeys next week ⚫️🔵
Good to see two Rangers @sarah_grego and @agreen03 involved this morning as the Football Ferns fell 2-0 against Canada in Grenoble, France. They now face a must-win encounter against Cameroon in their final group game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup ⚫️🔵
In the Chatham Cup Miramar Rangers has come from 2-0 down to defeat Lower Hutt City 5-2 in Extra Time. Joel Stevens got Miramar back in the game just before halftime making it 2-1. With time almost up Blake Weston delivered a superb cross which Stevens headed in making it 2-2 and into extra time. Miramar was too strong in extra time with further goals to Jack-Henry Sinclair, Angus Kilkolly and Ollie Basset to the delight of the Black and Blue supporters ⚫️🔵
Fixture 📆 Tomorrow sees Round Three of the Chatham Cup take place when @miramarrangers travel to Fraser Park to face Lower Hutt City at 6pm 🏆 Thanks to @westondesignsport for the match day graphic ⚫️🔵
For #throwbackthursday we head back to this time in 2003 when @miramarrangers secured back to back National League titles when they defeated East Auckland 3-2 in an epic Grand Final at North Harbour Stadium. Miramar opened the scoring when Tariq Iman’s cross was headed in by Rupert Ryan, however East Auckland soon equalised from the spot to make 1-1 at the break. Ryan then collected his second early in the second half before East Auckland drew level again. With time nearly up Bryan Little’s short spun agonising wide after a touch from keeper Tamaiti Williams for a corner. With the last kick of the game Adam Birch delivered a corner which was headed in at the near post from Ryan to complete his hat-trick and spark wild celebrations from the Miramar bench and back at the clubrooms as they claimed back to back titles ⚫️🔵
Happy Birthday from Black and Blue to former Ranger Michael Durkin who was another product from the Sacred Heart College System which has given us Tom Doyle, Ben Thomas, Niko Kirwan and Tom McCloy over the last few years ⚫️🔵
A heart-breaking loss for the Football Ferns after falling 1-0 to the Netherlands early this morning but good to see @sarah_grego heavily involved throughout the game. The Football Ferns will now travel to Grenoble, where they will prepare to take on Canada in their second match of Group E on Sunday morning (NZT) ⚫️🔵
Good luck to the Football Ferns as they start their World Cup Campaign tomorrow morning at 1pm when they take on the Netherlands and to Miramar players @sarah_grego and @agreen03 ⚫️🔵
