WHOLE OF FOOTBALL

Miramar Rangers is an enthusiastic supporter of the NZ Football-led national development structure. This approach aligns all our development programmes to provide a unified pathway into the game and delivers a consistent experience to our children. The goal of this plan is for everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability to enjoy a high quality of football that’s tailored to his or her needs. It also reduces the barriers to coaching and provides all coaches with the resources they need.

Information about the Whole of Football approach is available at New Zealand Football and Capital Football.

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

José Figueira is Miramar Rangers' Director of Footballand the Head Coach of Team Wellington. José has immersed himself with great success in the New Zealand football community over recent years, with roles with both the U17 women’s and men’s national sides, Auckland City Youth team and has also had a stint in USA with the New York Red Bulls as a youth and junior coach.

José came to Team Wellington and Miramar Rangers from Central United where he was Director of Football.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Cole Peverley is Miramar Rangers' Junior Development Officer. Cole is also the Head Coach of the Team Wellington Player Development Programme for high-performing players and runs the Football in Schools Programme, which is one of the Club's fundraising and community activities.

Cole has represented New Zealand 17 times, including appearances at the Under 20s World Cup, as a Junior All White at the Beijing Olympics and as an All White at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He has also played in Germany and the USA as a youth and senior club player.

Cole has developed his passion for coaching with positions in the USA and at academies and clubs throughout New Zealand.

We are fortunate to have such high-calibre guidance leading football development across the club.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

The Team Wellington Player Development Programme runs year-round during term time for kids who are interested in accelerating their football skills. This coaching is aimed at kids in premier league teams and depending on space, can be limited to invitation-only admission.

For more information, check out the Player Development Page of the Team Wellington website.

SUPPORT FOR COACHES

Miramar Ranger Junior teams rely on parent volunteers to coach teams. Coaching involves running training sessions and coaching from the sidelines at Saturday games. Some teams also appoint another parent as team manager to assist with scheduling, logistics and communication.

COACHING COURSES 2017

Within the Whole of Football programme there are courses to help our many volunteers to learn the rules and how to become confident coaches and referees. These courses are age/grade appropriate so you learn while your children are learning the game. Due to our numbers we try to facilitate these courses at our clubrooms and early on in the season. In the meantime, if you'd like to see what's available through Capital Football, check out their Coach Education page.

REFEREE COURSES 2017

Receiving some instruction on how to referee could be the best time you'll ever invest! For courses run by Capital Football, check out their Coach Education page.
