BACKROUND

MIRAMAR RANGERS ACADEMY & TEAM WELLINGTON PDP

Miramar Rangers has an excellent record of providing extra, high-quality development coaching for our very talended and keen young footballers since the Miramar Rangers Academy was kicked off in 2013 with James Webb at the helm. The Academy was replaced with the Team Wellington Player Development Programme (PDP) in 2016 when José Figueira joined the club as Director of Football. The new NZF Talent Development Programme (TDP) replaces the PDP as the Club’s premier coaching tool for the development of our top young players.

FTC & TDP

Over time, NZ Football is redeveloping youth talent pathways so that Federation Talend Centres (FTC) will complement high-performance training offered in well-developed club programmes. In 2019, Miramar Rangers’ TDP will support high-performance by giving youth age (13 to 17 years) high quality, personalised coaching at a high skill level, with opportunities to be identified for Capital Football’s regional teams.

For 14 to 16 year olds, Capital Football Talent Development will proceed with camps during school holidays to identify talented players for the National Age Group Tournaments (held in December) and NZ Football age group teams.

For 12 to 13 year olds, Capital Football will continue to run FTC programmes for those highly skilled players not captured by the TDP. It is anticipated that ultimately, FTC will eventually change to reflect the year-round training being offered in clubs.
